Eviction Notice Overdue for the U.N.

When is America going to wake up and see that one of the worst saboteurs of world peace is right in our own backyard. No, I don’t mean the Democratic Party, I am talking about the United Nations.

The United Nations has been an utter failure, and the current régime is wroth with corruption in addition to its anti-American and anti-Semite policies. It has demonstrated again and again that no one takes the U.N. seriously and that it wields no power or influence in the world, except when it serves those nations that are actively working against the policies of the United States.

The most recent example of just how far gone the U.N. is was a little talked about article where, during his speech to the U.N., Iran’s President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad stated that when U.N. Secretary-General Kofi Annan visited him in Iran after working for the cease fire between Israel and Hezbollah, he stated “Annan had told him Iran could ignore a Security Council resolution requiring the country to cease enriching uranium by Aug. 31 or face economic sanctions.”

Annan of course denies ever saying this, but why would Ahmadinejad say this in front of the world if it wasn’t true? Was Annan working with France to gain kickbacks in the nature for the oil for food scandal? Here once again he denies any part of it, but all the evidence points to his direct involvement, and I am sure that once he is no longer the Sec. Gen., new information will emerge as to just how involved and corrupt he was.Annan was the first to condemn Israel for striking back at Hezbollah and worked non-stop to stop Israel, even condemning the U.S. for not pushing harder to influence Israel to stop. Bowing under U.N. pressure Israel did stop and pull back, under the assurances from the U.N. to reign in Hezbollah. Today, Hezbollah celebrated a “victory” demonstration and stated that they did not care what they had promised the U.N., that they would never give up their weapons (as per the agreement with the U.N. and Israel) and additionally, they now have had time to regroup, rearm and have over 25,000 missiles positioned that they can launch at Israel.

The U.N.’s failures span the globe, even with a tiny nation like Dufar and the Sudan crisis, Sudan is defying the U.N. and there is nothing the U.N. is able to do about it. It is powerless, its policies are self-serving, and its members are corrupt to the ninth degree. They are constantly bashing the United States and Israel, and are undermining the very goals of humanity that the United States is trying to establish in the world.

The U.S. in addition to providing the U.N. buildings in Manhattan, provide over three billion in direct support and an unknown amount of money in in-direct support by having the U.N. headquartered in the United States. It is high time that we give the U.N. notice that they are no longer welcomed here. Give them an eviction notice and have one of our other esteemed members of the Security Council take it upon themselves to host the U.N. Hell, move it to France. Everyone hanging out in Paris talking about what should be done but not actually doing anything…it would be business as usual according to the French.

This latest debacle of the rest of the world spewing its brand of hate against the U.S. in the U.N. building, in our own country was the last straw in my book. And apparently I am not alone. In a recent online pole of if the U.S. should pull out of the U.N. 94% of those responding stated “yes.” The U.N. has outstayed its welcome and outlived its usefulness. If the rest of the world wants to keep it around, fine. But not in our backyard and not on our dime.

Be careful what you wish for alpha. The UN does not have a lot to claim to its credit indeed, but that has worked out just fine for the US. The UN is there when we need a veil of legitimacy, and our control of it via its location and funding comes in handy when we want to block criticism of Israel or our own actions via our veto Daring the UN to relocate could have some interesting unintended consequences at this junction in global relations.

No. I am pretty sure that the UN is still located in New York because that is presicely where we want it to be. The UN is there to lend legitimacy when we need it, and to serve as right wing whipping boy when we need that.

But then, to accept this anlaysis, one must reframe his premise that the US is a perpetaully helpless and guiless victim — rather than the greatest power in human history.

What fun would the right have if they had to stop seeing us as victims all the time?
