Hyperbole? I don’t think so. Remember, 9/11 took place during this presidency and he had our nation create an unrelated theatre of war in response, based on forged documents, knowing they were forged, a side note; Colin Powell made sure he will never be president.
Nixon was dishonest to be sure, but he made deals with China that at least made sense. The Viet Nam escalation is also a very black mark, along with the failure to see if the Great Society would work fully implemented and not the half baked garbage cake that was served with law and order icing and Dixiecrat bigot filling. But in context, can anyone imagine Nixon getting us into this quagmire? A gaffe like the wage and price freeze sure, but this, not a chance.
Reagan- massive deficits puny compared to now, and the failure to take us off the fossil fuel sucking on kneepad position to OPEC, gee I almost feel like reminiscing about those good old days. Even the specious claim about winning the cold war (they lost we didn’t win) doesn’t bother me as much as this crap in Iraq.
LBJ- just mention Viet Nam, Hey hey LBJ how many kids did you kill today, that’s enough, but he did do wonders with civil rights, I readily admit not every one feels as though everyone who is a citizen of the US should have equal rights. Some of my fellow bloggers may even feel this way.
Hoover- when I think of it this may be serious competition for the worst, but his situation is maginfied by the US economy being part of a global plunge in everything, it how he handled it that really bears scrutiny. Seemingly at every opportunity to do the right thing he did the opposite.
Harding- just a regular bungling oaf, fairly pedestrian.
Grant- great on the battlefield horrid in the White House, reconstruction corruption extraordinairre, but I think this is going back too far for relevancy when compared the nature of how things are now
But Pierce and Buchanon deserve mention. Oddly, despite the heroic descriptions of old HArd Head Hickory Jackson, his treatment of Native Americans especially the Cherokee nation is shocking in duplicity and inhumanity. He deserves mention. Some of my ancestors took a long walk to Oklahoma.
In terms of guidance and developing this nation, This is the worst President I have ever experienced by far and Hoover is the only one in history sinceWWI that is a rival.

Only a certified DemoDonkey could make this statement. Certainly Bush and Congress has spent way too much money but at he did not destroy the US economy like Jimmy Carter.
Jimmy Carter completely mismanaged all parts of the US economy. The economic statistics tell the accurate story. The unemployment rate and interest rates were around three times what we are experiencing under Bush.
Jimmy Carter left most people wondering if the USA would go down in flames like Rome.
Bush will not be considered as great as Reagan, Lincoln, FDR, or Washington; however, Carter will always be considered by most historians as one of the worst if not the worst presidents.
