The vast underground of accomplished poets in the Roaring Fork Valley make their way Sunday night to Zele’s Cafe on East Hopkins Avenue in downtown Aspen, there to find rhyme and perhaps even reason in a world gone fractional. Co-sponsored by the Hudson Reed Ensemble, the event that began as a curiosity has morphed into a gaggle of those who like to haggle with words, thoughts, sounds, and ideas. An open mic and featured poet are followed by 30 minutes of slam-bang slam competition in a session now slated for the last Sunday of every month. the evening is hosted by Kim Nuzzo, one of the driving forces behind the guerilla Hudson Reed theater troupe.
