Hello everyone,
This week we should have Broccoli, Eggplant, Cukes, Corn, Mesclun Salad, Fennel, Tomatoes, Squash, Gala Apples and Peaches. Our Peak is happening now and for the next few weeks. If you have friends who want to try us or if you have been meaning to “gift” a box to someone, NOW would be a good time!
Monica has made up Garlic Braid to sell. They are made of one of my favorite Garlics, it is called Inchilleum. It is a very large bulb, that tastes fantastic roasted whole. It is also a good all-purpose garlic, because it will last into December or January and it is easy to peel and has nice, large sized cloves. Respond to my email if you want a Braid, they are not listed on my web-site. Most of them are around $25-$35.
Oogie from Desert Weyr has a lot of mutton legs to sell. You can order them off the site. The meat is very rich, lean and tasty. They are great for a summer Bar-B-Que with a salad and some corn on the cob.
Zephyros Flowers are more beautiful than ever. Last week I got a bouquet that stunned me. I wanted to grab a paintbrush and capture the colors on paper, because they seemed the most perfect blend of color that I wanted to never forget them. There were violet colored scabiosas, with brown to magenta Rudys, tall spears of grass and white babys breath.
If you need extra of something, here is the list:
Heirloom Tomatoes- $ 5.00 a pound
Peaches- $3 a pound
Basil- $9 a half pound
Last but not least, Zephyros Farm & Flower Garden are having their annual Farm Dinner soon. Call Don or Daphne @ 970 527-3636 to reserve your seat. Myself, Chef Ryan Hardy of The Little Nell, Chef Mark Fischer of Phat Thai and 689, and two other local chefs, (TBA) will cook fresh from the farm and lamb will make it’s way onto the menu from Desert Weyr. The date is Sunday, September 9th. Please come meet and support your local growers!
