Like so many in the community of Aspen, students and patrons of the Aspen Music Festival and School rely heavily on the free bus system to get them around town and to concerts, rehearsals, and lessons. We encourage them to do so – to leave their cars at home to avoid adding to problems of traffic and parking and to help preserve the town’s inimitable small-town charm. 
The Roaring Fork Transit Authority provides an efficient and effective service for AMFS students and concert-goers, but it seems the costs of providing transit service in Aspen are rising faster than the funds in place to provide it, and a solution must be found to preserve this important service. Referendum 2-A provides an elegant solution by requesting a new use tax on large construction projects and simultaneously reducing a .25-percent sales tax to .15 percent. 
Referendum 2-A helps keep in place the great, free bus service that the Music Festival and the town rely on. I hope everyone will turn out and vote “yes” on Referendum 2-A.
