What must you do before you, “Kick the Bucket”?

Rob Reiner’s latest directorial effort, “The Bucket List” is going to challenge my declaration that, “The Great Debaters” is going to sweep the Oscars. An all-star cast including, Jack Nicholson, Morgan Freeman, Sean Hayes of “Will & Grace” and Rob Morrow, think Dr Fleshman from Northern Exposure perform.

This film is brilliantly targeted at all of us baby-boomers and anyone who approaches life with a perspective of where you’ve been and what is next. The motive here is to go out complete and with exclamation.
Nicholson and Freeman’s characters find themselves sharing a hospital room as patients dealing with a diagnosis of brain cancer and a poor prognosis. Through surgery, chemotherapy, family issues and acceptance, these two characters, unlikely friends, end up bonding and supporting each other through the greatest challenge of their lives.

This wonderfully and warmly written, directed and acted film handles the subject with humility and humor. At times predictable, “The Bucket List” keeps moving along and is engaging, touching and surprising.
Great camerawork and cinematography. This film will do well at the box office and would probably be the perfect prescription for even someone faced with their mortality. I loved it!
