I don’t know about you, but I am starting to really enjoy this political season. I am about as apolitical as one can get. Nevertheless, I watch the coverage for entertainment and I am really being entertained this year. Every time something happens and I feel like maybe commenting on it; if I delay even a little bit, something else comes up and I get distracted again for a bit. What’s really sad, though, is trying to imagine how it’s all going to turn out. No matter what possible scenario I come up with, there is a sense of foreboding for our future reference. As usual, I will not be voting for anyone that I consider to be a good prospect – just which one will do the least damage. It remains to be seen just who that’s going to be.
On other matters, in my last post I referred to my challenge in finding other living accomodations in the valley as we had lost our lease as of March 1st. I also put it out there that I was leaving no stone unturned in meeting this challenge and was requesting assistance from Aspen Post readers. Well, a little bit of time has now passed and things have changed – most likely for the better. At least that’s the feeling I have at the moment.
After perusing the local papers for awhile, seeing the little bit that’s available and most places renting for $2K or more, my roommate decided it’s time to move to Northern California to be close to her youngest son and the grandkids.
I then got in touch with my friend and former coworker who had told me last year that she and her boyfriend would be my contingency plan if I ever needed it. Guess what? She told me that THEY have to move soon as well. I also recently encountered a few friends I hadn’t seen in awhile and it’s all the same story – they have to move as well. There really is an epidemic of sorts taking place here. No wonder Michael used the words “Sound familiar?” in his editorial comments.
Anyway, the bottom line is that the decisions have all been made. I will be going to Northern California as well. From my past, I am relatively burnt out on California from about the Golden Gate to the Mexican border, but Northern California would appear to be promising. I have been over almost every square inch of it before, but on vacations. I have never actually lived there, so it’s still a new experience. I will be within a 2 hour drive or less of such places as Mount Shasta, Crater Lake, Grants Pass, Klamath Falls, Lassen National Park and last but not least, Fall River Valley – one of my favorite places even counting Colorado. I still have to give notice at work, so keep this under your hat, okay?
If I am allowed, I will still continue blogging here as well as reading the Post. Once the move is made, I will probably be WAY less distracted and might very well contribute more often than I have been lately. Wish me luck? Thanks!
