Jim Laurence News Roundup

Investigators returned to the site of a carbon monoxide leak that killed a family of four on Thanksgiving Day.
Carter Lofgren, his wife and two young children were asphyxiated in the home at #10 Popcorn Lane—in the exclusive Aspen Morningstar Subdivision—they won the trip to aspen and the stay in the home through a silent auction—the family lived in Denver.
Whether a carbon monoxide detector failed at the residence—or if it was placed in an area that missed the leak—–is being determined.
Engineering experts will check the pipe from the boiler meant to divert the deadly gas outside—-Carbon monoxide is invisible—and odorless—and can be produced by the burning of natural gas, propane, on almost anything in the right quantity……a detector is mandated by the county —-but apparently was not working on Thursday last…..
In response to the deaths—-the sales of devices that detect carbon monoxide have skyrocketed…….fire chiefs say install one for every floor in your home and have them tested regularly——-do not place one in the garage—-as the emissions from the car will produce a false reading….
