Mike Miles Best Person to Replace Senator Ken Salazar

Mike Miles would be the best person to be appointed to Ken Salazar’s Senate seat.

He has military experience as a former Army Company Commander, a Ranger and a West Point graduate. Plus he has foreign policy experience as a former U.S. State Department employee and Diplomat. Here in Colorado he has been an educator and  superindendent of schools

He received the majority vote of the delegates to the 2004 Democratic Party State Assembly when he ran for the U. S. Senate. He received 52% to Senator Salazar’s 48%.

Miles has spent his entire life serving the public interest as a soldier, diplomat, and educator.

Call Governor Ritter’s office at (303) 866-2471 to ask that Mike be appointed to Ken Salazar’s Senate seat.

    Cathleen,

I received a letter from a friend regarding boosting Mike Miles to the Senate, which includes a forwarded letter from Mike. Here they are:

    My Friends,

We are not done with bringing CHANGE in 2008. If Colorado can elect Barak Obama as President (lost by 2 votes in Garfield!) and Mark Udall to the US Senate, then MIKE MILES is NO LONGER TOO LIBERAL FOR COLORADO. Colorado has caught up to Mike Miles.

Mike Miles is indeed interested in the US Senate appointment. Below is part of an e-mail he sent to me a day or so ago. It is upon us to get his name put forward. Attached are talking points to use when calling the Governor’s Office and your friends.

I would like to ask for your help in putting his name forward, as well as assisting in building critical mass throughout the western slope.

Please call Governor Ritter’s office at (303) 866-2471.
Governor Ritter has also established an e-mail address for Coloradoans to express their choice and make comments regarding the US Senate appointment: ussenate.comments@state.co.us

    Kim,

Thanks as always for thinking about me. I hope you are getting into the holiday spirit with Abby.

I would be honored if Gov. Ritter would appoint me to the seat that our team tried hard to win. Our team was prescient, but too ahead of the average person in the fear-laden times of 2004. If you and Be The Change wanted to help, we have a very short window (I estimate 10 days) in which to act and our team would be a long-shot once again. Be The Change would have to write numerous letters to Ritter’s office and to the papers (letters to the editor and meetings with editorial boards). They would have to get on blogs right away and use the Internet.

My sense is that Gov. Ritter will be looking to who can keep the seat in 2010 and who would help him get reelected in 2010. It will be a political decision, and the political insiders will once again mount a campaign to reward one of their own. I would welcome the chance to serve as a U.S. Senator, but I don’t have any illusions. If Be The Change and others want to advance my name, I will help behind the scenes and will attend any high-level meeting they arrange, but I don’t think I’m in a position to take the initiative on promoting myself.
Gov. Ritter will only consider me if it will help him and the Democratic Party capture more votes – the military, veterans, educators, minorities, people concerned about foreign policy, and the Coloradoans who really are tired of politics as usual. Let me know what you think. Dick called Jeremy (a reporter from the Denver Post) – his number is 303 954-1367.

    –Mike Miles

I’ll second Mr. Miles’ senate nomination. I have met Mr. Miles and he is a great person and will make a great senator. Colorado could not send a better person to the U.S. Senate than Mike Miles.
