Jim Laurence News Roundup

A couple of Aspen High School students face expulsion after a small amount of marijuana was found recently in their lockers.  The unidentified youths apparently bought the drug from another student—who will also face expulsion, which is required under state law.  All three have been suspended.
The last time a drug bust occurred was five years ago, when several bindles of cocaine were bought and sold near campus.
It seems like yesterday that Aspen voters picked a new Mayor and several council members….but coming up soon:  another election!  Incumbent Mayor Mick Ireland says he isn’t sure of another two year term—and fellow councilman Dwayne Romero is considering a run for the mayor’s job.
Local tennis instructor Torre (that’s his full name) who ran for mayor in the last election and lost—says he’ll make another try, and several others are now coming forward and announcing candidacy.  The election will be held in early May.

Watch out next time you’re out in the backcountry on snowshoes or skis. A grey female wolf, believed to have traveled here from Yellowstone National Park, has been seen in the central mountains of Colorado in Eagle County.
It is not uncommon, say wildlife experts, for wolves to travel such long distances, more than one thousand miles in this case, in search of a mate and new territory.
