A proposed reduction in size of the Lodge at Aspen Mountain was made by developer—Centurion Partners, in order to get the voters to approve the overhaul of the area at the base of lift 1A at aspen mountain…..Centurion partners plan a new hotel 175 thousand square feet—too big say many critics—and with the weak economy the support for the project may be flagging. Incumbent Mayor Mick Ireland says he will try for another two year term leading the city —-his seat, so far, is being challenged only by local talk show host Andrew Kole.

Bernie Madoff, who ripped off nearly 13, thousand investors nationwide—with about 130 victims in Aspen—will plead guilty to charges of money laundering, mail fraud and other charges in an expansive Ponzi scheme that bilked members in his investment company of more than 50 billion dollars.
No plea bargaining—say lawyers for Madoff—who faces life in prison.
