Hudson Reed Ensemble Sets Auditions

The Hudson Reed Ensemble will hold auditions for A MIDSUMMER NIGHT’S DREAM on Sunday, June 14 from 2-4 p.m. and on Monday, June 15 from 6-8 p.m. at the Crossroads church, 7th & Francis.

This abridged version of Shakespeare’s magical tale of lovers and fantasy will be directed by Mike Monroney. Actors are asked to bring a prepared piece or they may read from the play itself. All experience levels are urged to audition. The character’s age range is between sixteen and sixty, and there are 8 roles available.

This will be the fourth season for HRE’s Shakespeare series. Kent Reed, HRE’s director said “this series has grown in audience attendance by leaps and bounds. Our first year we had maybe 300 people attend. Last year we drew over seven hundred people for our five performances of MUCH ADO ABOUT NOTHING. We fully anticipate this year’s  production of A MIDSUMMER NIGHT’S DREAM will be our best yet.”

The director, Mike Monroney is a former Crystal Palace performer, most recently directed SHE LOVES ME for A.C.T. He played Benedick in last summer’s “MUCH ADO ABOUT NOTHING”.

This free production of A MIDSUMMER NIGHT’S DREAM will open August 19 and play twice a week for three weeks. It will be performed behind the Pitkin County Library in the Galena Plaza Park. For additional information call: 544-4888.
