One of the Roaring Fork Valley’s non-profits is struggling with overdue payroll taxes.  Investigators are looking closely at the books for CCAH—THE Carbondale council on the arts and humanities.
Paybooks, Inc. is under investigation for fraud—the Company does most of its business for more than one thousand clients in New York —but a small number of payroll is processed for organizations out of state—CCAH is one of those.  
CCAH is the primary sponsor for the Carbondale mountain fair—-and there are no plans to cancel that event——which is the biggest money generator for the non-profit——but right now the group owes thousands as a result of the bumbling of tax reporting by the New York firm.
Toppled financier Bernie Madoff has checked into his cell at North Carolina’s Butner Prison—the 72 year old Madoff will spend the rest of his life in jail….sentenced to 150 years for defrauding investors—thousands across the country including 120 Aspen investors—some of whom were wiped out after investing in Madoff’s Ponzi scheme.
The prison routine will include for Madoff seven hours of work each day (painting, cleaning and grounds keeping—no internet—limited television).
