Carbondale Town Trustee John Foulkrod says he’s had it! After four hours of meeting last night—much of the discussion whether to consider a new fee against developers to pay for upgrades to the town’s water system—–Mayor Michael Hassig asked Foulkrod—(who works as a local developer and who opposed the measure)—–if he was speaking as a trustee or as a developer)…
That’s when Foulkrod stormed out—–promising to resign. We’ll see what happens.
The foreclosure rate in Pitkin County is already way past the total at the end of 2008—-when a total of 35 foreclosures were filed.
At present—the number of foreclosures stands at 45—-more are expected….
The most expensive—-two Units at Sonnenblick condos in Snowmass Village for 110 million dollars total foreclosure against related Westpac.
The difficulty for the investor, who might buy the units and inject some much needed capital, is finding where the loan actually lies—that requires a lot of legwork:
We will track the rate of foreclosures as next Wednesday the treasurer’s office will announce the latest opportunities from the steps of the Pitkin county courthouse—-we’ll also hear more tomorrow from the staff at the office in charge of processing those fore closings.
With all the sour news about the economy—others see opportunity—one is Paragon Technology group—-a firm specializing in electronic systems for the home, and outdoors—-which has expanded its operations in Steamboat Springs, Vail and Aspen. Company president Dave Raife says the hole left by downsizing competitors opens a big door for new business for paragon—and he says his company will profit from the expansion.
