With recovery from the recession expected to take at least two or three years, belt tightening will continue in Pitkin County.
Pitkin County department heads may not see any additional monies for 2010—emergency and essential services will be maintained…but some capital improvement projects will remain in the planning stages—unless a huge spike is seen in tax revenues next year.
Some higher level staff members will see some pay increases—-but the rank and file will not—anyone who leaves their job, depending on the position, may not see the slot filled.¼br /> Sometimes gloomy comments are made locally about the economic forecast for winter, but it’s a different imaging in the Eagle Valley—-where 550 thousand additional marketing dollars were spent to boost summer tourism in and around Vail.
Because of its proximity to Denver—100 miles….huge crowds attended many of the summer festivals and other events in Vail—-and economic sparks are being seen in more commercial and residential real estate closings…
