Pitkin County Commissioners in a hubbub over the planned 320 unit development called the Tree Farm in the mid-valley—–just a small slice of Eagle County property—-which commissioners in the Eagle Valley have basically approved.  Too much strain on local services –says the Pitkin BOCC, including members Jack Hatfield and Michael Owsley.   Eagle County does not have a special representative on its board for the roaring fork valley—–both commissions meet next week to further discuss the planned development near Willits—–which was strongly opposed by elected leaders in Basalt.
Two weeks:  that’s how long before the snowmaking equipment at Loveland Ski Basin is turned on.  The race is on already for which area will open first—Arapahoe Basin or Loveland, both of which have most of their terrain lie above tree line—cold enough for those snow guns to lay down a base.
