Aspen Community Theatre has announced the cast for its production of “The Music Man.” The musical opens November 5 at the Aspen District Theatre, with additional dates through November 15.
“The Music Man” stars Mike Monroney as the charismatic con man, Harold Hill and Nikki Boxer as the stuck up librarian, Marian Paroo; Lynnette Kidd Schlepp is Marian’s Irish mom and Cooper Campisi is her lisping brother, Winthrop.
Mayor and Mrs. Eulalie Shinn are played by Wayne Ethridge & Nina Gabianelli; Flynn Holman is Zaneeta, the mayor’s daffy daughter who falls in love with the town’s bad boy Tommy played by Tim Beirne. Other featured actors include Lee Sullivan as Marcellus Washburn, Julia Foran as Amaryllis, and Patrick Murray as Charlie Cowell.
The Pick-a-Little Ladies are Tammy Baar, Jan Pfeifer, Jennifer Schiller, and Mary Sloop. The Quartet of judgmental school board members are Jeff Bestic, Jonathan Boxer, Ed Foran, and Chris Hoofnagle.
The cast is rounded out with chorus members Laura Anderson, Zane Bloomer, Dylan Degraff, Dorian Emery, Danielle Erickson, Calli Ferguson, Maggie Fitzpatrick, Lyon Hammill, Bill Hodges, Talitha Jones, Zoe Levine, Larry Mincer, Campbell Mishel, Preston Mottier, Jo Mueller, Brooke Murray, Gina Nuzzo, A.J. Palacio, Hannah Pike, Pedro Rivera, Luke Seamans, Kidd-Duhe Solomon, Shannon Turbidy, and Sue Wasienko.
Written by composer Meredith Wilson, “The Music Man” opened in 1957. The show became a hit on Broadway, winning five Tony Awards, including Best Musical, and running for 1,375 performances. The cast album won the first Grammy Award for “Best Original Cast Album”. The show’s success led to revivals and a popular 1962 film adaptation.
Directing and choreographing for ACT is John Goss. The production staff includes musical director David Dyer, conductor Wendy Larson, set designer Tom Ward, costume designer Kathleen Albert, lighting designer Loren Wilder, and sound designer Michael Munroe. “ The Music Man ” is produced by Rita Hunter and Jody Hecht .
