Investigators with Pitkin County will continue their work today to determine what killed a 20 year old man—-who was found dead in a hot tub in Aspen on Wednesday morning.
The unattended death, says the police report, was first alerted by a 9-1-1 call to dispatch just before noon on Wednesday. The victim’s body was found in the hot tub at the Prospector –a group of condos located at 301 East Hyman Avenue. We are doing more work on this story now and are waiting for more information from investigators—although it’s expected to take a couple of weeks for the report from Pitkin County Coroner Steve Ayers.
Seasonal flu continues to be managed through vaccines in good supply—but the biggest concern locally is for the spread of H1N1 (Swine Flu), for which vaccines are available only to health care workers locally, until the center for disease control is able to authorize the shipment of more shots —but that may not happen for several weeks.
Many of the flu patients for the swine flu are kids—-the ones in greatest danger of contracting that virus are between elementary school and high school age. There are a couple of confirmed cases at the Aspen School District, and at several other schools, including the Aspen Country Day School, administrators are warning parents to take quick action—keep your child at home as soon as symptoms develop and see a doctor.
