The secretary of state will rule today whether the question on the November ballot that asks voters to approve a one percent lodging tax in Aspen can stay or not—–after several ballots went out without the question —we’ll let you know how that turns out—and this week will be explaining further the ballot questions to be decided next Tuesday—Election Day.
No word from investigators if any new evidence was turned up in an apple orchard west of Glenwood Springs. A dismembered body, that of an 38 year old aurora woman, was discovered in the orchard in June—-the intensive second sweep of the site was conducted this weekend.
Halloween brings out the goblins and ghouls—-but make sure that if you’re in that crowd and plan on imbibing on the night of all Hallows eve—-get a designated driver or better —ride the bus. It’s easy….and we’ll be telling you more toward the end of the week about the goings on for next Saturday—Halloween——-probably one of the most favorite of all Aspen holidays.
A hotel owner in Taos New Mexico has ordered his Latino workers to homogenize the pronunciations of their names—-for example, no more Marteen—just Martin, thank you. And no more Marcos, just Mark will do.
63 year old Larry Whitten, a former marine, is quickly finding out, however, that his firing of several employees over the orders have resulted in a groundswell of opposition in the community, including Anglo residents, who say Whitten needs to soften his approach in dealing with others.
