CON GAMES: My Mom, White House Gate-Crasher

“In my family,” blogs the Con Man, “when we read about somebody crashing a dinner at the White House, we know how it’s done because our Mom already did it…. “My Mom went to multiple state dinners with my father, the late journalist Frank Conniff…. She went to at least one each at the John F. Kennedy White House and the one presided over by Lyndon B. Johnson and Lady Bird. (My Dad had in fact run for Congress as “LBJ’s Candidate” in 1964—and lost.) When she received an invite from the Clinton White House thirty years later she thought is was awfully nice of Bill and Hillary to invite her back during a new Democratic regime. Not for a minute did she think it might be a mistake: after all, she had been there before.”
