Fresh snow means great skiing, but greater dangers in the backcountry—the avalanche danger is rated at high—for areas in the central mountains….the greatest threat on south facing slopes.
Arapahoe Basin is getting a new lift—-operators announced that the long time in use Exhibition triple chair will be replaced by next season with a new high speed quad————that will be welcome news for those braving the cold ride—–most of A-Basin’s runs lie above tree line and it is Summit County’s highest ski area, with the summit at just over 13 thousand feet.
Take the bus, or designate a driver for New Year ’s Eve if you’re headed out on the town—–local law enforcement, along with stepped up service by the Colorado State Patrol—-is intended to keep drivers from getting behind the wheel if you’ve been drinking.  Be responsible—-be safe—for the New Year’s celebration.   If you fail that blood alcohol test—-you’ll be arrested.
