I’m JL for the Aspen News Center.
Actor Charlie Sheen returned to Aspen on Monday—-hearing charges against him in the case that has seen world wide attention. Sheen was arrested Christmas morning at a rented west end home, after allegedly threatening his wife, Brook Mueller Sheen, with a knife.
Three charges were made against the actor.
Felony menacing, third degree assault and criminal mischief—-the last two charges as misdemeanors. Brook Sheen’s attorney says she wants to drop the charges—but District Attorney Arnie Mordkin says that appeal won’t affect the prosecution.
Charlie Sheen, the star of Two and a Half Men, sat with his lawyer and said little…except to acknowledge the charges and agree to return to Aspen on March 15th for another hearing in the case.
Judge James Boyd did grant a request for the husband and wife to begin communicating directly again—-but Charlie Sheen is forbidden to use drugs or alcohol—and to continue to undergo anger management therapy.
Aspen mayor Mick Ireland expressed his view that many of the workers at Poss Architects live in Carbondale or thereabouts, so to argue that awarding a lucrative design contract to the local firm in order to “boost the local economy” didn’t really make much sense for Aspen.
Poss has priced its bid about one million dollars higher than a Denver firm to design the final build out of the city’s affordable housing at Burlingame Ranch.
Oz Architecture of Boulder bid the job at 1.7 million dollars.
But no decision was reached last night—both companies were asked to take another look at their bids and come up with some new information.
What’s your take on all that—save the money or keep it in the area?
