Most government buildings are closed today—emergency services are ready to respond, but the post office and other local offices closed due to President’s Day today.
Four skiers were rescued from a site several miles north of Lenado on Sunday, after all were swept away in an avalanche.  One of the skiers suffered a broken leg, but all were taken out by mountain rescue.  None of the backcountry skiers were locals.  They had been on a weekend hut trip.
Big doings in Snowmass Village tomorrow with Mardi Gras and the Big Ski Z—as celebrations this year are dubbed.  Mayor Bill Boineau is in Tuesday morning at eight a.m. on KSNO radio for an interview.
We’ll be highlighting the festivities but also will be taking a look at the 2010 budget for the town
