A new pathway for the Farmer’s Market in Aspen is supported by the merchants and has been approved. City Council has agreed to try for one year a new way of funneling pedestrians toward the downtown merchants as they make their way through the market, which will see booths down Hyman Avenue from Hunter Street and toward the mall.
But Mayor Mick Ireland, responding to complaints by Little Annie’s, says if business declines because of the market then something will have to be done right away to keep the operators of the long time eatery happy.
Aspen has long been known as a community that cares; from responding to local disasters like the fire season of 2002, to the needs of the victims of the Haitian Earthquake.
And while the city might not be the first to come to mind when you think of homelessness; it is here.
This Thursday on local news we’ll feature an interview with Kris Marsh, director of the Aspen Valley Medical Foundation.
Marsh will be in to explain a lecture this Thursday at the Given Institute featuring Dr. Jim Withers with his film: one bridge to the next. Dr. Withers is considered a pioneer in what’s called “street medicine”.
Find out more about this lecture to benefit the Aspen Homeless Shelter, in news Thursday morning on KSNO.
