Scapegoat Wanted For Horizon Disaster

Michael Conniff In a disaster of epic proportions–spill baby spill–we simply must have a scapegoat. What better sacrificial animal (goat, lamb) to lead to the slaughter than the President of the United States? Here’s a quick heads-up: the blame must go Foursquare on the oil industry and politicians who worked so hard to make Deepwater Horizon happen.

Yes, the Commander in Chief has another ‘Gulf War’ on his hands – this one however is a lot closer to home. It’s enough to make a grown man cry as it did yesterday on national TV. LA Congressman Charlie Melancon spoke as few words as you’ll ever hear in front of a microphone under the Capital Dome, but he said it all:

Though I’m sure it’s not on his mind a present, he is challenging (R) David Vitter, the brothel dude in November. Makes me want to register in LA just to help him win.

Yep Con Man, the reptilian Republicans will no doubt shower President Obama with blame, as if he had no Interior Secretary, no Minerals & Mining Service Chief (just sacked), BTW Ken Salazar has already filled the post [WASHINGTON AP — The head of the Interior Department's Bureau of Land Management (Bob Abbey) is stepping in to run the much-criticized (MMS) agency that oversees offshore oil drilling.]

But the question to Ken is, and should be, a forehead smacking, “What were you thinking? You knew that our domestic oil industry had been hijacked in secret by Dick Cheney and his cabal of oil execs. Hint to Ken: if this were a game of Clue, you’d already be sitting it out while others played.

If ‘W’ can delegate two wars, surely President Obama can delegate to the Interior Department. Woops, guess not, so he’s shouldering the blame himself. It takes no small amount of character to do this. Not once in eight long years was ‘Junior’ man enough to take one iota of blame for harms done.

Ban Mining. Let the bastards freeze in the dark.

    Cheers,

You’ve lost me on the bus metaphor Mr. War.
